10 Running Goals for 2016

2015 has been a trying year for me as a runner. There have been so many highs and lows. I have grandiose goals for 2016 but they are not impossible so I want to share them will you all.

 

1.     RIO 2016

Obviously one of my biggest goals for 2016 is to run in the 2016 Olympics in RIO. I am a realist so I know I have a lot of work to do, but i feel stronger and more focused than ever.

2.     Lift More

In 2014-15 I struggled with lifting and balancing what I thought I should look like as a model. In 2015-16 I've decided I don't care. I want to get back to where I used to be and even better in lifting.

3.    Defined Abs

I've always bounced between average and slightly defined abs. Superficially, I want more defined abs. Practically, I want a stronger core.

4.     Continue to write in my Track Journal

I have always had a Track and Field journal. This season I made an effort to write consistently in it, and next year I want to continue that.

5.     Focus more on my improvements

Sometime I find it easy to loose focus on my own improvements. It can be hard to "stay in my own lane" and not compare myself to others. I want to be better at focusing on my own improvements.

6.     Clearly map out the direction of my season

I have slacked on drawing a clear map for my season. This is as far as schedule, goals, eating healthier, etc. I want to really make an effort to plan out the rest of my season.

7.     Run sub 60sec in 400m hurdles consistently

The long hurdles have always been a mind fuck for me. In my prime I've run a 53 sec 400m and I am a pretty good hurdler. These 2 facts haven't come together in a race and I want them to. I want to train more efficiently so that I run a sub 60sec 400 m hurdle race.

8.     Consistency run 13secs in the 100m hurdles

I know I have all the tools and capabilities to run sub 14 secs in the 100m hurdles more often. I think I can run mid or even low 13s; consistency is my goal.

9.     Take preventative maintenance more seriously

I have always been good at preventative maintenance, but up until 3 months ago I was slacking. I need to consistently take care of my body and work to prevent injury.

10. Enjoy it more

Honestly, I have been feeling in a rut this year. I don't want to fizzle out now, I want to take this experience in and really enjoy Track again this year.
